When You Lose It All.

Bright yellow, warm orange, and deep red fill the hills right now.  When the sun begins to go down and enough light escapes to streak across the treetops, it looks like the hillside is on fire.

Yet I know that it is all momentary.  I know that those beautiful leaves will fall and leave bare branches behind.  I know those trees, once beautiful and vibrant, will look like they are dying.  They will go through winter.  They will face the harsh cold, stand under the weight of heavy snow and ice.

They will lose everything and endure a hard season.

But when the time is right, leaves will begin to grow again.  Life will come back to dead things.  Because winter won't last forever.  Spring will come.

Sometimes we have to lose it all in order to birth something new.
