When The Enemy Lies.

Hey, you.

Yes.  You there, with the face.

Your head is hanging and your heart is aching and you just look like life is beating the stuffing out of you.  You've heard the evil whispers of the enemy on more than one occasion.  And you're actually listening to what he's saying.

"You're worthless," he whispers, his voice crawling along the edges of your nerves.  "You'll never be like those other moms.  You'll never be like those other writers.  You'll never be like those models, those actresses, those popular girls walking down the school hallway.  You'll always and forever just be you."

And you shrivel up and feel like dying because, for some reason, you think that a lifetime of just being you is a bad thing.

But, sweetheart, it's not.

Did you know that you were created with a purpose?  That your genetics, your personality, your eye color and hair color and shoe size are all part of that wonderful purpose?  Did you know that you were dreamed up and formed in your mother's womb, that you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:13-15)?

Did you know that the mistakes you have made do not define you?  That the person you were five years ago does not have to be the person that you are now?  Did you know that you've always been loved with a divine love that began before your birth and will continue into eternity?

Did you know that not one nanosecond of your life, not one, has been miscalculated or lost?  That our God makes everything work together for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28)?

Did you know that a lifetime of just being you is exactly what God designed, exactly what He wants, exactly what the world needs?

Because the enemy knows it.  And he knows there is no one out there who will ever be as good at being you as you are.  And it terrifies him.  Because a man or woman who knows their worth is a man or woman that threatens his work.

So make the enemy shake in his boots.  Find your worth in Christ and stop listening to the lies of the enemy.  Open God's Word and bask in the truth you find there.  You'll find the beauty in just being you, because you'll find the beauty in being loved just as yourself.

"You're worthless," the enemy will whisper, his voice crawling along the edges of your nerves.  "You'll never be like anyone else.  You'll always and forever just be you."

And you'll smile because, finally, a lifetime of just being you seems like the best way to spend a lifetime.
